God of War review

God of War’s concept and game play is based on the hack and slash gaming genre; players control Kratos, and kill enemies throughout the journey in many different and gruesome ways. The amount of action and detail that the developers include allow fans to feel immersed in the game. The dynamic camera angles and cinematic scenes within the game, are created to let the fans feel emotional towards the story of the game and the characters.

The intense, and vast amount of details, in the graphics of the game, and the cinematic scenes were amazing. Fans were able to clearly see and tell what was going on with the story and the events that were occurring. The way the camera allows you to see every scene and detail perfectly, and the character emotions, lets the gamer relate more during their time playing the game.

Published by Sony, and created by Ready at Dawn, the new creation of the God of War game transformed how fans perceived the previous games. For starers the camera view is locked as a third-person view instead of a free, changing camera during the gaming portion while the cinematic scenes are always changing to put more intense and excessive feeling in the scene.

The story and plot they created for the God of War game was different than before but allowed fans to feel nostalgic towards the past installments.

After a time passes, and the events of God of War 3 pass, Kratos finds himself in a place called Midgard and creates a family. Soon after, Kratos and his son, Atreus takes the ashes of his wife to the highest mountain throughout the realms. This is the start of their journey that takes place in Norse mythology, and while on their journey they encounter enemies, creatures, and monsters that cross their path.

Many fans bought God of War because they had played the previous installments and hoped to continue the lore of God of War and the story of Kratos. Some fans never got to play the previous God of War installments, and buying the newest one would allow them to get a feel for the story. Others bought it for the interest of God of War, the genre that the game is made for, or the innovation of graphics, gameplay, and story.

The only drawback of the game is that it is PlayStation exclusive, so owners of the Xbox franchise do not have access to God of War.

This movie was so exciting that many people all over the world started to pre-order tickets almost a month before its actual release. Surprisingly, the directors of Avengers: Infinity War, Joe and Anthony Russo, had moved the release date from May 27th, to April 27th. This influenced many people that were already planning to go watch it, get the chance to watch it early.

The main antagonist is known as, Thanos (played/voiced by Josh Brolin), and he drives the main plot in the movie. Avengers: Infinity War, the third installment of Marvel’s Avengers series, and has been a blockbuster hit! After only a day of its release, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War had made over $10 million. Surprisingly enough, Infinity War had become the number one movie in the world, making, in total, over $600 million world-wide.

The total cost of making Infinity War was said to be around $300 – 400 million, which is said to make it the most expensive movie in the world. Because Marvel is now owned by Disney, Disney’s creative influence has been increased since they own both the Star Wars franchise and Marvel Studios. According to a box office website, Marvel stock had been down 2.8%, but after Infinity War it was raised to 3.2%. This demonstrates the amount of influence these movies have, in the way people all over the world show interest in movies that portray their childhood, or something they wished to see.

Personally, I loved the movie. I had watched the first movie, created by Marvel back in 2008, which was Iron Man. I loved the comics of Marvel and DC; they influenced my childhood, and to see people bring those characters, those ideas into a cinematic portal I personally love it.

The beginning of the movie was just shocking; to just see Thanos and the Black Order, overthrowing Thor and the Asgardians, that scene is forever engraved in my mind. The emotions put into that scene affected many fans, seeing important characters being killed off so easily and readily throughout the story amazed me.

The entirety of Thanos just made chills run down my spine, they made him as cool as he could be, the way John Brolin portrayed Thanos made me think of his voice when I would read the comics.

Even in the end of the movie, I personally didn’t think that the Russo brothers would make Thanos collect all six Infinity Stones in the first movie.

Overall, I’d give this movie a 9/10 rating. I wanted there to be more of an explanation to certain scenes, like the Red Skull, or the Soul Stone, all these pieces have little explaination behind them. I wanted more, but honestly this movie makes me think who is the bad guys, and who are the good guys, and makes me think of what the next Avengers movie will be.

Starbucks closes for racial-bias training

Two men who had entered a Starbucks in Philadelphia were arrested after trying to use the restroom in the establishment. An employee had refused to allow them to enter, or use the restroom, because they had not bought anything from Starbucks. Soon after sitting down, the employee told them to leave, before calling the police. Once the police officials had arrived they soon arrested the two men. At that time, another person, Andrew Yaffe, confronted the police officers and asked, “But what did they do? What did they do? Someone tell me what they did?”

From the narration of Rashon Nelson; he and his friend were at Starbucks to meet a business associate. He wanted to use the restroom but was refused, and was told it was for paying customers only. So, he and his friend sat back down and waited until the business associate came. They hadn’t ordered anything because they had bottled water, and this was when employees had dialed 911, and police officials showed up to the scene shortly after.

Many people after hearing/seeing the story, started to try and bring awareness towards the racism in society, especially towards Starbucks. Many people were happy to hear that Starbucks was taking action, but they hated how they’re only taking half a day to “learn” about racial bias. People believe that taking half a day would not address the problem of racism and how they caused the arrest of two men because of how they were African-American.

This event was a moment of racial bias, where the two African-American men were disrespected and not allowed to do normal things by a white man. Racial bias in the world is huge, not only does it affect the rest of the world, and countries, etc., it is also affecting people, families, children in the U.S. Children have been bullied for having different colored skin, for being “black,” or “Asian,” or foreign.

One way or another, people will always be racist, because people will always be judging others, in everyday life. No one will forget about it and will always use race, skin color, or ancestry as an excuse to hate/discriminate against people.

Starbucks had announced this incident as racial/implicit bias, but really it was just racism. Starbucks had then decided to close all Starbucks in the U.S. for a racial bias training. Believing that teaching their employee’s/staff about racial bias would stop them from enacting these events in the future.

“It’s not just a black people thing. This is a people thing. And that’s exactly what we want to see out of this, and that’s true change. … Put action into place” –  Rashon Nelson

Rashon was one of the two men arrested that day, and appeared on ABC’s, Good Morning America news to talk about the incident.

After the incident, Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson had released a video explaing, what Starbucks would do to ensure that this incident would not happen again.

The usage of Bitcoin

Bitcoin, is a cryptocurrency created by Satoshi Nakamoto that uses no banking system for transactions, marketing, or currency. Bitcoin, enables payments to be sent between users without passing through authority, such as a bank, or payment gateway. Bitcoin can be bought by people, used as a trading/bargaining item, and can be used to buy items. Bitcoin was one of the first examples of cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin is used through the Internet and technology; it can also be transferred with a micro-chip. The micro-chip contains the Bitcoin, and it’s worth and can be traded physically. People use Bitcoin as a way to obtain money through the Internet and technology. People who own a Bitcoin can price the coin at any price, however they deem it. This is because of how Bitcoin gains interest or currency. People “mine,” and solve problems, to increase the Bitcoins price.

Bitcoin was made as an easier way to make money through technology, and asa way for people to make money using their skills and intelligence with technology. Anyone can use it, and people who are interested with the stock market, trade business, and other goods that can be affected by Bitcoin, such as purchasing stocks with Bitcoin, paying certain bills, items, etc. with Bitcoin use it for transactions.

Dangers of Ransomware

Ransomware is a type of malicious software within computer technology, which is also known as malware. Ransomware is a type of malware virus that denies the owner, of a certain software, the access to their files within the software. In sense, if you had a laptop, and you had a Ransomware attack, you would not be able to log into the laptop or access files on it. Ransomware will ask for a payment, preferably in cryptocurrency, before you are allowed to access the software with a code, but most likely you will not be able to, and be asked to pay more.

This was how Ransomware was discovered, and how Ransomware affects peoples’ opinion on technology. It causes many organizations, companies, or businesses to change the technology they are using, or change their servers, networks, or computers entirely, which can cost up to a million dollars.

Their are many ways to be “attacked” by Ransomware. The most common delivery system is “Phishing Spam.” Messages and attachments that are sent to your email, disguising itself as a downloadable software that they need. Once the file has been downloaded, or opened, Ransomware can take over the computer and cause you to input private information, administrative access, etc.

Another form of Ransomware are specific programs that are created. These are more aggressive ways to hack into networks, and are disguised as ads, commercials, etc on the Internet. An example was “Petya.” Petya was a Ransomware application back in 2016 that mainly attacked the Ukraine, and used many different types of networks, software, etc., to forcibly hack into the systems of families, companies, industries, etc., and install Ransomware viruses.

Ransomware has been used as a way for “hackers” to steal money using cryptocurrency and the use of technology to deceive people into paying. Ransomware has caused many companies and businesses to lose nearly $1 million. Ransomware has slowly gained popularity throughout the 20th century because of the new advancements in technology which allowed hackers to easily access networks, servers, etc.

Image Taken from: https://www.computeroptions.net/report-ransomware-attacks-hit-nearly-30-percent-midmarket-organizations-2017/

As in the last passage, Petya is an encrypting Ransomware that infects targeted computers and locks out access to the computer until Bitcoin currency is paid. Petya had attacked Europe, and the U.S., back in 2016, targeting major companies, organizations and businesses. Petya used firm advertisements to infect computers and servers, and infected Microsoft Windows. These ads were similar to WPP ads, food companies, or other ads that would attract consumers, buyers, etc.

Another attack of Ransomware was the, “WannaCry” attack in 2017, where the virus attacked and encrypted Microsoft Window networks, systems and computers and hacked over 230,000 computers in 150 different countries. WannaCry was also able to attack and hack LG Electronics in Asia, and this caused them to shut down all of their networks, servers, and electronics to try and solve the virus. Honda was also affected, and companies nearby and server/networks inspections were enforced to try and get rid of WannaCry Ransomware.

So, ways to not be attacked include: stay away from websites that are not secure, and don’t click on ads. And if you do get hacked, hopefully, you have a hard drive with important files; turn off the computer(s) and try to find someone who can help get rid of the Ransomware. Have anti-malware applications on your computer that protect it from viruses, or firewalls, etc. If all else fails, the only other way is to hopefully be given the code(s) after paying the wanted payment(s).

The affects of music in Life

Music has existed, and been created, way back when, and is now one of the greatest thing in life. The satisfaction of listening to instruments, melodies, voices, rhythm, etc. Music allows one to “be themselves,” meaning if you favor music, it can soothe peoples feelings, it can make one excited, happy, sad, or it just doesn’t phase you.

Either way, there are people out there that use music to help them in life, or to cope with certain, “extremities.” People could/would listen to sad music whenever they feel sad! Or they listen to exciting music when they’re happy!

All these music genres were created because of how people have different opinions in music, from plain old Jazz music, to Electronic Dance Music.

The way music affects people’s lives are vast. Music can cause many different types of people to be inspired to create music! It can allow people to gift themselves with the talent of singing, dancing, or playing instruments.

People may only listen to music because it has a catchy rythm, or the vocals are understandable and lyrics were interesting, or they like the artist. No matter what the reason, people have listened to music for a long time and it affects peoples lives; especially if people understand the songs of the artists.

Some artist or singers create songs to express their feelings and try to tell a story. The songs themselves are a way to communicate with the listeners. These songs tell a story to people that they could relate to, or understand what the story meant. Many artist are like this, and use different types of music genres to express it.

I surveyed a number of Highland Park Senior High students, who are around my age, and asked them:

  • “Why they listen to music?”
  • “How does it ‘affect; them?”
  • “When do you listen to music?”
  • “Do you listen to music when you’re emotional?”

I asked a total of 10 people, and these were the most common answers.

When I asked why they listened to music, the most common answer was, that music helps calm them down, focus on certain activities/hobbies or makes them feel better.

When I asked how music affected them in life, the top answer given was, how it affects how they think, what they do and how they do things, from hobbies to work.

I then asked them when do they listen to music, and 90% said, whenever they have the time to listen to music. One person said, “Whenever it’s too quiet, I listen to music.”

I then asked, if they listen to music when they’re feeling emotional, and all of the people I surveyed said yes, because of what they were emotional about and how they could relate or be relieved of their emotion at certain times while listening to music, whether it be when they’re sad or happy. One person, out of the ten, said, “I listen to music to relief myself of stress or anything. Let it all out!”

Image Taken from: http://whatthefaculty.com/music-everyones-first-love/

After surveying all of these people, I’ve learned about them more, what type of music people listen to, and how it affects them. One person that took my survey said they listened to Christian music, which really shocked me, because I never thought about music and religion being related, and how it can affect certain peoples lives.

I learned that in general, music helps people cope with their own “extremities” and express what they go through.

Fornite’s popularity

Released in the middle of September, 2017, Fortnite, a battle royal video that was created by, Epic Games, was a major hit in the gaming community. In just 3 months, Fortnite was one of the most downloaded games of the year, and as of February, 2018, has reached over 40 million players world wide.

Not only is Fortnite free-to-play, it is also a battle royal, and at the time of Fortnite’s early access, the most played battle royal game was, Player’s Unknown Battlegrounds. Fortnite has gained popularity because of its free access to players, and how the gameplay of the game works.

Many times, Epic Games had to expand their technology towards Fortnite with the number of players worldwide. Epic Games would have game servers shut down from time to time because of the excessive number of players.

Fortnite is a genre of battle royal, where the player drops onto a generated map with nothing but a pickaxe. Once landed, the player’s objective is to find loot, such as weapons, health kits, shields, etc. and survive against 99 other players who also have the same objective; to be the last standing surviver.

Fortnite’s graphics are created to give the game a carton type vibe, and allow players to build using 3 resources: Wood, Stone and Metal. Players are allowed to build floors, stairs, ramps, walls, doorways, etc., using this mechanic. This allows players to better survive against others in combat, and gives the game a new mechanic that players can use.

Battle royal has become one of the more favored genres in gaming ever since the release of H1Z1 and Player’s Unknown Battle Grounds.

Reviews for Fortnite have been mainly positive; for it’s free-to-play access and the mechanics of the game. Many gaming companies have taken a liking to Fortnite and many famous YouTubers have profited from Fortnite. Many companies have prospered because of Fortnite like: Twitch, PlayStation, Microsoft and Epic Games.

Epic Games was also affected, because of how many players downloaded Fortnite and played. Epic Games had to increase the amount of servers they had because of the increase of Fortnite players. This also affected another game that Epic Games had been developing over the past 2 years, which was Paragon.

Fortnite has been used by YouTubers, and streamers, to boost their incomes; mainly, YouTubers because of the new Terms of Service, of how certain graphical videos would earn no ads for that particular video. This meant that YouTubers couldn’t earn money from uploading videos of certain games, so many YouTubers became streamers; also known as monetization.

Twitch gained a positive value from Fortnite because of the amount of streamers who had come to stream Fortnite using Twitch. This allowed Twitch and the streamer to earn donations by the viewers who watched. Twitch gained an increase in streamers, once Fortnite gained popularity, before the end of 2017. This affected Twitch’s views, economy, software updates, and the streamers who used Twitch.

The art of EDM

Electronic Dance Music, more famously known as EDM, is a genre of music that uses technology and electronics to create music. Such components are electric instruments, MIDI contollers, synthesizers, and other electronic components to create sounds that are interpreted as music. EDM originated back in the early 1980’s and slowly continued to evolve as technology grew and changed overtime. EDM back then wasn’t famously known or used, as the complexities in technology, and the challenging steps of creating EDM music made it difficult to produce. Even today, the most famously known EDM artists take weeks to create tracks and albums.

For EDM, there are branches of genres for people to take a liking to. The most famous type of EDM, that present artists create, is called: Electronic House Music (EHM). One famously known artist of this genre is Steve Aoki. Steve is one of the most highly acknowledged EDM creators, and DJ producers, and he’s earned many awards including two Grammys for his EDM creations.

Steve Aoki, EDM Producer and Music Artist image taken from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Aoki

Electronic House Music uses average instruments to create a baseline of melodies, drums, basses, and beats, but EHM also uses vocals and other instruments that the artist can create on their own. Electric Dance Music allows an individual to create sounds and beats virtually, and then place them on a track that they can then alter to create music. The creation of EDM music is really complex and challenging; many artist struggle when they try and create new tracks.

“If I could play it, I would, but since I can’t I have to ‘draw’ it.”

-Deadmau5, Joel Zimmerman

Deadmau5 is another artist who creates EDM. He has uploaded many videos about EDM, and streams for viewers to see and watch how he creates tracks. After the 21st century, MIDI control pads; also known as Musical Intrument Digital Interface, were created with more advance complexities and diverse controls, from sound tuning to octave levels for a sample or track.
