Now churros is one of my favorite desserts ever, I love its sugary flavor and the texture is just perfect.
Churros has always been my favorite ever since I was a kid. I grew up eating a lot of different types of Mexican desserts but nothing compares to churros. So I was very excited when I found this recipe and decided to make it.
In my opinion this recipe was relatively easy to make, the only problem that I had was that I thought that the dough wasn’t coming together while I was making it but like the recipe states you just have to keep mixing, the dough will come together. And it did! So don’t worry about that part, just keep mixing and it will come together.
Before we start, just to let you all know, this recipe is not mine it belongs to ‘Cooking Classy’, this is their recipe.
Churros
Ingredients
Here is what you are going to need for the dough:
- 1 cup of water
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1 Tablespoon of sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of flour
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil
Ingredients for the sugar:
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Here are your steps to make your dough:
- In a large pot heat about 1 1/2 inches of vegetable oil on medium-high heat and wait a few minutes
- Once the oil is slightly boiling start to add in the 1 cup of water, 1/4 cup of butter, 1 tablespoon of sugar and the 1/4 teaspoon of salt inside the pot and stir
- Now you are going to keep stirring for a couple of minutes, after a few minutes add in the 1 cup of flour
- Next lower the heat to medium low and keep stirring until it all comes together
- Next move the mixture to a large mixing bowl, and let the mixture cool for 5 minutes
- Once the 5 minutes are up add in the 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and the 1 large egg to the flour mixture then blend it all together (keep blending and if it comes apart don’t worry just keep mixing the dough will come together)
- Now that your dough is made, put the dough into a piping bag with a star shaped tip (use a medium one, you don’t want your churros too thick)
- Next, in a pan add in enough oil to cover the bottom of your pan to fry the churros, and put your stove on medium heat
- When the oil is ready, very carefully start to pipe the dough into the oil, you can make it as long as you want but not too long, and once you get your preferred length cut the end of the dough with scissors (You can put around 3 churros in the pan at the same time)
- Now let the churros fry until they are golden brown
- Now on a plate place paper towels on top of the plate so you can place your churros to let them cool down and so the paper can absorb the oil
- While waiting for the churros to cool down it’s time to make the sugar and cinnamon mix, in a bowl add in 1/2 cup of sugar and 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon and mix together thoroughly
- Now that the churros are all cooled down sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mixture on top of the churros and make sure to cover the whole churro
- Now you can make however many churros that you want and enjoy this delicious dessert 🙂
