Ending animal cruelty

Animal cruelty is a big problem, but is often not viewed as such. Many animals are abused daily but it is not a major issue to a lot of people because they are just “animals”. Many people don’t take into account that animals have feelings too and this abuse takes a toll on them. When people think about animal abuse they think dogs or house hold animals, but there is abuse everywhere.

When you go to a zoo or a circus that uses animals you are supporting animal abuse. Zoos may seem like a nice place to take kids as a form of entertainment, but the reality is that animals captive in zoos are deprived of everything that is natural and important to them. As a result of this, most animals suffer from a condition called “zoochosis”. The website Peta.org talks about how if you have ever noticed a captive animal sway back and forth this is a first hand symptom of this disease. This can get so bad that at some zoos they give animals a mood-altering drug, such as Prozac, because the public has started to catch on. In some cases it gets so bad that animals risk their lives in desperate attempts to free themselves. The reality is most people spend several minutes at a display for an animal whose whole life is misery. Instead of going to a zoo, watch documentaries on animals in their natural habitat happily living. For more on captive animals kept in zoos here is the link to the Peta website http://www.peta.org/living/entertainment/reality-zoos/ for more information.

Circus are very big places where many animals are abused. Many circus, animals are trained through the use of intimidation and physical abuse. According to Paws.org, former circus employees have reported seeing animals beaten, whipped and denied food and water. These actions are taken all in an effort to force them to learn their routines. Animals are taught that not obeying the trainer will result in physical abuse. This is very stressful for these animals having to go through all this abuse. Animals aren’t actors, instead they are spectacles imprisoned and forced to perform these silly, stupid, tricks for the amusement of humans. If you are interested in reading more about animal abuse in circuses, please visit: http://www.paws.org/get-involved/take-action/explore-the-issues/circus-cruelty/.

There are endless amounts of animal cruelty everywhere, these are just some of the more open to the public forms of animal cruelty. There is way too much suffering for these animals, and there is no compassion shown towards them. Humans seem to forget that animals are mammals too, and they have feelings  just as humans do, but still seem to matter less.

Events in the Twin Cites this fall

There are many events during the fall, whether you are looking for a family friendly event, or more of a fun friend activity. Here are a couple of ideas of things you can do.

If you’re looking for more of a family friendly activity it seems that the biggest corn maze could be very fun. The location is 8001 109th Avenue North Brooklyn Park, MN 55445. This is the link to their website:

https://twincitiesmaze.com/special-offer-2-off/?gclid=CPT7oP_u08gCFQccaQod8E0EQg

The tickets are $10 online but are $12 at the gate. Children under the height of 36″ are free. Along with the purchase of a corn maze ticket, there are more activities that come with admission such as a corn pit, petting zoo, a hay ride, and more .

If you’re looking for more of a friend going out, and having fun, night Valleyscare is great if you like rides. It is open from 7:00 pm to 12:00am on Fridays and Saturdays. This can be a good time for a group of friends to go out. The Valleyscare website is:

https://www.valleyfair.com/haunt/

The tickets are $40, but you can get them cheaper the night before at Cub Foods. There are several rides or activities at Valleyfair that are not included in admission.

School lunch review

The lunches at school have always been dreadful but now they are just plain unappetizing. The food that they are serving us students is hard to even understand what it is. The food is undercooked or it’s overcooked.

It seems like even the lunch staff is not okay with serving students this so call “food” as there are standards even for the lunch staff.

Most students complain to the school for serving this on a daily basis. There are many ways we can improve, but sadly nobody does anything to change the school food. According to students, this lunch food is just inedible, and since most students are starving at this time, they have to eat this so-called food. There is also a portion of students that don’t eat lunch due to the food.

There are many students who always try to ask for better food but nothing has ever been done to improve the food. Students such as Iveth Martinez have claimed she rather not eat school food because it is just not appetizing.

Eating something is very crucial for many students. After speaking  o some of the lunch staff, very briefly, since they are very busy, they said that the food is not the best but it is what they have to work with to feed such a big portion of kids.

I think what they are saying is true if they had better quality food to feed students, then I believe the food would be better. Some improvements that I would suggest, include: asking students what they would like to eat in school, as that way more students would want to eat school lunches. We also could improve the quality of the food, thus making the food have a better taste.

Overall, school food isn’t the most appealing but it is still OUR school food and we should improve it where possible.

How to be happy

Being happy is something that is very important in life. Happiness is an important key to life. Although sometimes things may happen that may make you feel low, it’s always important to try to at least keep yourself lifted.

There are many little simple things you can do to make yourself happier, for example:

According to Tinybuddha.com talking to someone new can make you feel happier. You get to learn about them and also you get the opportunity to expand yourself. It makes you feel as though you are getting the chance to make a new friend.

Tinybuddha.com also suggests trying to respond to things in a positive manner and not let them affect your day. By doing this you can make the choice to have a better day and not get upset.

Immanuelopcpgh.org suggests to try soul-searching. I know it sounds kinda cliché but trying something new and stepping out of your boundaries can push you and help you find things that you didn’t know you had an interest in. Finding new passions can really create a more motivated person also give you new things to love to do.

Taking a risk can just push you to a happier life according to Immanuelopcpgh.org. Sometimes risks can be great give you more opportunities it just pushes you and you might find taking that risk help you get to where you wanted to be.

Apa.org says you should relieve yourself from stress. It takes some time to do something for yourself to really relax and reach your inner peak. You can really change your style of  life and make it more pleasant. Also learn to accept your body and start loving yourself. It makes a huge difference!

Enjoy the little things, for one day you make look back and realize they were the big things.” ~Robert Brault
