UPDATED About/FAQs

The ‘Plaid Line’ is the student generated, non-profit, school newspaper of Highland Park Senior High. All articles are written by students in grades 9-12. Students take great pride in the fact that they are able to write about, and inform others, about topics that interest them.

The first print edition of the ‘Plaid Line’ was released in 1964. Fast forward to school year 2013/14, and the ‘Plaid Line’ became an exclusively online publication.

Starting in 2023-24, the Plaid Line started to also host HP’s literary magazine PRIZM. This allowed us to publish not only student non-fiction, but also fiction and art.

In 2025-26, the Plaid Line and PRIZM will welcome another branch into their media family when the Scottie News will join them as well. Video content will be joining the print content you’ve come to look forward to from this site.

With all the change, also starting in 2025-26, the class will no longer be called “Newspaper” and instead will be called “Journalism” to better fit what we aim to accomplish.
